Free Night of Race Academy Training this Thursday (2/26)!

We would like to invite ALL Saturday & Sunday D-Team racers to join our Race Academy this Thursday evening for one last chance of gate training before the the final championship races of the season!

We will have two tall gate courses set on Lookout (one SL, one GS) from 6-8pm and two stubby courses (one SL & one GS) set on Fowl Play from 6-8pm for any Saturday or Sunday D-team to would like to take a few more runs in the gates.  We are also hoping to have a few of our coaches present to help on both hills.

We are going to try and run timing on Lookout for the tall gate courses.  PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO PETER@WELCHVILLAGE.COM no later than 1pm on Thursday if you know your son/daughter plan to come and train on Lookout so we can enter their names in the system.  Please include their first & last name in the email.  We will not having timing on Fowl Play, just two practice courses.

Again, this practice/gate practice session is open to all Saturday & Sunday athletes.  You will not be in your normal coaching groups with coaches on Thursdays.  Feel free to take as many laps as you want, we will have a few coaches around to help.  It's supposed to be chilly so come prepared for the cold weather.

We will be sending the information for the races this weekend as soon as we receive them from Mount Kato and Afton Alps.

Last weekend of practice; Open NASTAR for families!

This weekend is the last weekend of practice for the 2015/16 D-Team season.  All parent's and family members will also be given the chance to "race" this weekend too!  Both Saturday & Sunday, we will have NASTAR timing with 2 courses each on Lookout and Fowl Play from noon-2pm.  We will have one GS course and one stubby slalom course on Lookout and two stubby GS courses on Fowl Play.  Cost is $5 each for D-Team family members, registration will take place in the Vista Room.  All participants in the NASTAR courses must register beforehand. 

Notes:
- For those of you who still haven't picked up and piad for your D-Team hoodies please do so in the Ski Shop asap.

- We have several ribbons from this year's races that still haven't been picked up.  We will have those in the Vista Room this weekend.

-I am still waiting to hear back from Kim Hoffbeck regarding pictures.  I will update the blog when I receive information on that.

Feb. 12 Annoucements

Here are few announcements:

• There is NO D-Team practice this week due to the Midwest NASTAR Championships.  We are encouraging D-Team families to participate in this event or maybe come for free-skiing.  If you still need to register, please do so online or in person by Friday in the Vista Room.

•  Saturday coach George Haun will not be able to coach for the remainder of this season.  "Coach" had minor surgery this past week but he is ok and has been told that he needs to take the rest of this season off

• We will have Open NASTAR timing set-up for all D-Team racers and their family members for the last weekend of practice on Feb. 21st and 22nd.  There will be 2 courses set up with timing on both Lookout and Fowl Play.  On Lookout, we will have a stubble slalom course and a full gate GS course.  On Fowl Play, both courses will be stubbies.  On Saturday, this will run from 12pm-2pm; on Sunday, this will also run from 12pm-2pm.  There will be a charge of $5 per person which will get you unlimited runs on all the timed courses.  All current D-Team racers are FREE.  If your son/daughter has told you that they are faster than you!  This is your chance to prove them wrong!  This should be a fun way to end the season before the final weekend and the D-Team championship races.   Those who would like to race on the final weekend will need to register in the Vista Room (old ski shop upstairs). Those who pay $5 will be entered into a drawing for several prizes that I have secured from the Welch Village Ski Shop!

Midwest NASTAR Championships at Welch Village Feb. 13-16

There will not be D-Team practice the weekend of Feb. 14-15.  We are encouraging all of the D-Team racers (and their families too) to participate in the Midwest NASTAR Championships at Welch Village.  It's a great weekend of recreational racing, great food, live music, and fun for the whole family.
